This system setting controls the textual output of musical data. In long mode, complete duration and octave information is displayed for every note of a sequence (or voice of a segment); in short mode, this information is only displayed at the beginning of each sequence (or voice) and whenever it changes. Of course, the information displayed in short mode is complete in the sense, that when put in again, the original musical data is exactly reproduced.
